The Soulan are beings of earthly and alien origin; magical warriors whose powers are a result of their ongoing pursuit of knowledge.
The Soulan are in an ongoing struggle with the forces of Darknez, an ancient evil being banished by the Soulan from their home world eons ago. He has sworn revenge against the Soulan and has undertaken a quest to destroy them at any cost.
Hundreds of years ago a few select Soulan, fleeing from Darknez, came to Earth and established a secret temple in Africa. They did this because an ancient prophesy foretold Earth's importance, and in particular, the importance of a single child of African origin. Darknez eventually tracked them down and invaded Earth, dispersing the Soulan and moving them to the brink of defeat. Our story picks up from this point.
